Just thought i'd share this as it's a hobby of mine. This is what nostalgia and rarity can do in today's world:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1997-Skybox-E-X2001-Essential-Credentials-Now-Michael-Jordan-6-9-BGS-9-MT-PWCC-/351705647399?hash=item51e34a4927:g:MmoAAOSwq19XDAqk

This card's booked value is US$2600, ungraded. A 9.5 generally gets you 10-15 times the book value. A 9 less than that. Not sure if the sale went through but considering this is the rarest of the rare, i'd say it did.

Wow!
I couldn't imagine having that amount of cash to spend on a card!
But Jesus. That would be a profit and a half!

I know, there are some people with some cash out there willing to spend it on these types of things. Anyone who collected up big in the mid to late 90's is now reaping the rewards.

The value of old currency is crazy. The only thing i have is the old $2 note, worth about $14 last time i checked which was about 10 years ago.

I had a huge collection of basketball cards in 1993, when I was in primary school. Left unattended in our classroom at recess they were stolen.

I don't know what they would be worth now, but I'm guessing alot more than they were in 1993.
