I just bought a "Canyon Arrow" for around the farm, an 84 Pajero with a 4g54 carbie motor and a 5speed. (NA i think?). On the drive home it stuck itself in 2wd high range and now the selector wont move, i mean it's stuck good!

It has auto locking hubs and the manual states you have to reverse 2 or 3 metres to disengage them. But i reversed around the paddock two or three times to unwind them, still the selector wont budge. Plus it makes a bloody horrible noise!

Not sure what to do except to start taking shit apart and cleaning and lubricating etc etc, as the car has been sitting out in the weather for a couple of yabbie seasons...

any suggestions?

on old hiluxes the 4wd selector lever wares and jumps out of the grove its supposed to be in, just a matter of pulling off the gearstick boot and undoing the 4 small bolts holding it in and droping it in its grove and doing it back up, if it starts doing it regularly then you might need to get another one or if your feeling really tricky build it up with the welder and reshape the ball on the end a bit bigger
