Mitsubishi 4G63BT DASH 2.0L 12 valve SOHC ECI Turbo
This was Mitsubishi's Big Gun 4cylinder Power Engine of the 1980's. It came standard eqipment in Performance spec FWD Galants and RWD Starion's. The DASH was available in a variety of power outputs ranging from 150kw @6000rpm to 155kw in intercooled guise.
-Certain models feature a Mitsubishi CYCLONE intake manifold which results in a higher torque output and can be identified by a CYCLONE badge on the DASH 12valve rocker cover
-Intercooled versions are often refered to as DASH 2.
-A very limited number of Factory Race Spec Dash engine's were built and are rated at 250kw.

Mitsubishi 4G63BT 2.0L 16 valve DOHC EFI Turbo
The most popular Cordia Conversion is definately the 2L Twin cam Turbo mill from the Galant VR4. The 4G63BT twin cam is standard equipment in numerous vehicles including Evolution Lancers, Eclipses and Galant VR4's.
This engine comes in a huge variety of different performance specs from 130kw to 208kw.
-In automatic guise the Japanese spec 4G63BT VR4 puts out a lacklustre 130kw on 100ron fuel. A sure way to tell if you are being sold a lower spec engine is to get the injectors flow tested as the lower spec VR4 engines had much smaller flowing injectors.
-In manual guise the Japanese spec VR4 engine starts at 151kW @6000rpm and 162kW in the Evo Galant VR4 up to 176kW in the Galant Evo RS

Mitsubishi 4G63BT SIRIUS 2.0L 8 valve SOHC ECI Turbo
This is one of the easiest and most cost effective engine conversion, as you can use all of your 4G62BT running gear(ECU, injectors, sensors etc..)
The 2.0L Sirius 8 valve looks identical to the 1.8L engine. These 2.0L engines came factory fitted to Japanese Spec Cordia Turbo's, Galants and also in RWD Sigma's and Starions.
-The 2.0L is a very tough unit, Factory Power ratings range from 131kw to 149kw and it comes in a variety of different variataions with TC06 & TC05 turbo's.
-Some models were intercooled but the majority of these engines were not intercooled.

There you go :)

what's your point? ;) what if he were the person who put it on cordiaturbo.com? ;) is that copying? ;) fact is that the info was asked about; perhaps he should have sourced it, but he gave the info. now it is sourced. all is said and done.

There are quite a few differences between the DASH and VR4 engines that I have seen

The DASH has one less cam, four less valves, a larger intake valve that is hydraulicly triggered at around 2500rpm to increase torque below 2500rpm, manual adjustable rockers, throttle body injection instead of multi point injection, no tuned length intake runners, no variable length intake runners (cyclone), no braces between the outer two pairs of big end bearings, no factory blow off valve, different turbo, a distributor ignition (instead of the VR4's distributorless), a different bore and stroke, and probably a few more that I haven't spotted.

Also the intake manifold on the Cyclone DASH engine is the same as the one on the Sirius DASH engine. I think the only difference between them was the computer and maybe the turbo compressor wheel trim.

Ok im a little confused? i have a Cyclone Engine but i thought it was an 8 valve. Could it be a DASH motor? is there a way to tell or do i have to take off the rocket cover to see how many valves??

here is a pic in case anyone can help, not very good quality as its off my phone http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b333/ ... engine.jpg

should be a DASH motor; 12V... even though that "cyclone" looks a lil odd.

Nope it's an 8valve, the DASH rocker cover has DASH turbo instead of ECI TURBO on the rocker cover, (like in my picture <<) and a higher raised area where your cyclone sticker is. Also the 8valve rocker cover wont fit on a DASH head.

hahaha.. i fugured the best way to tell it's a fake: DASH motor's got "CYCLONE" or "SIRIUS" written at the TOP of the engine; i.e. towards the firewall... where as that sticker looks dodgey, and it's on the wrong 1/2 of the engine ;)

yeah, i agree with AB here: 8 valve rocker cover.
here is a pick of the DASH rocker cover for ya.

Image

i'd say somebody did a dodgy on ya and stuck a "cyclone" badge/sticker on an 8 valve rocker cover

Does it have cyclone intake runners?

afaik there isnt a jap spec cyclone engine? i got a jap spec 12V SIRIUS DASH engine... so i'd doubt they'd make an 8V variant.

Your engine looks like a standard Cordia engine with the 'eci turbo' painted
and a cyclone sticker fitted.

Look on the engine block on the exhaust manifold side around where the
dipstick is for engine no. A 4g62 or g62 is a standard Cordia engine. A
4g63 or g63 will indicate that it is a 2 litre sohc.

yeah it is a 4g63 so i know its a 2Lt just curious as to the cyclone badge. If there werent any other cyclone engine variations other than the DASH then im wondering where the hell they got the sticker from coz the DASH engines dont have the same sticker/badge as i do... the DASH looks like an individual lettering badge. there must be other cyclone engines out there... even if they are in Japan. i might start a new thread asking what engines people have and see if anyone else has a similar badge/sticker as mine. It could be interesting.. Thanx Guys
