Given there is no difference between the Sirius and Cyclone DASH engines (and intake manifolds) I assume the same applies to the 8valve engine (and intake manifolds). I think you'll find the only difference is the sticker on the rocker cover. (Unless someone has some pictures to suggest otherwise??)

debba, apparently theres no difference between the sirius and cyclone DASH motors, after me searching ALOT i came uo with the result that the difference was in the company that was making the motor at the time, i'll try and find the info im talking about...
but on the other hand, the two have different part numbers for dizzy cap and rotor button, dont know wat the go there is??

also ive seen sohc 8v jap spec 4g63 with the same cyclone sticker fitted... looks like a factory thing..

Sorry to dissapoint some of you but all 4g6x engines are sirius engines.
There is no difference between a 4g63 engine labelled "cyclone" and
one that isnt. There could be differences with the equipment bolted on to
the engine but nothing internal.

Some Mitsubishi diesel engines are labelled "cyclone" and they are exactly
the same as there unlabelled brothers.

Its more about the time that they were made (and the marketing strategy)
than anything.

As for the thread:

http://austarion.ipspace.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2135&highlight=dash

It is highly speculative and written by a109 so make of it what you will

I'ld agree with that though 8)

Until I personally see evidence of the 170Kw rating then I wouldn't take it as genuine......'coltfiction' claimed to have paperwork/brochures stating 170Kw but I gave up on trying to get him to scan/photcopy it out to me a long time ago...

The Cyclone manifold 'torque' thing I believe only really applied to the DOHC 4G63 Engines where they used the Butterfly system to increase low-end torque over the standard ECI Multi Manifolds

Eitherway I'm having the DASH Head ported alongside a dummy one with clay moulding so the extra 15Kw won't be an issue at all

so if i want a dash engine imported, i should ask for an engine out of a galant, or starion...

what years were they standard, what model, and which is the best to look for?
model= GSR, GSX, GSL, ect...

Dash engine from a Mitsubishi Galant Eterna VR is the easiest for a Cordia swap. Here are some pictures of my one if that helps.
However I think your much much better off getting a 4g63 from a local car like an eclipse, DASH engines arn't exactly common and easy to find where as eclipses are much more common.

Also on the DASH Sirius / Cyclone debate after examining both the heads I think that the 'lip' part just above the larger intake valve is more pronounced on the Cyclone engine. Presumably that is to increase the low rpm torque, I certainatly don't see it helping top end power. However I haven't actually been able to get the intake valves out yet (damn you valve spring compressor) so I'm only able to judge by eye looking down through the intake port.
