Yes, I noticed today some chronic symptoms of head gasket blown today..

Heaps of steam out exhaust, I was at first panicking, because I thought it might be a blown turbo....

Nah it was steam from the cooling system.

Radiator hoses like baloons, and using lots of water...

Water in the oil, and honey under the petrol cap. heaps of water/steam coming out the crankcase breather...

Missing at idle, radiator bubbling like chronic....

I think this is definatly a blown head gasket, so all I need to do is fix it! Simple!

Anyone know the torque settings for a 4G32B Carby turbo? They are pretty gay though, insted of having proper nuts, they have allen key bolts, a bit silly I think...

Anyway, wish me luck I've never done a head gasket before, but it can't be that hard....

yeah piece of piss too change head gasket although I would be prepared to possibly find that the head has a crack in it somewhere (they always do) and ull have o find another one. Go to technical section on http://www.eroticmotorsports.cjb.net for a quick run down I wrote up.

OH SHIT!

I hope not....

I had a 4G32 head, but I chuecked it down a hill, I wonder if it's ok...

I have a 4G37 here, maybe that heads the same size....?

Do you think that'd work?

Also do you think the 4G37 cams might be a bit lumpier, being NA cams?

Do you think this could be a performance upgrade?

Hold up, there is a chance it might be OK, don't be too worried yet. To see if the heads are the same just physically compare them. Use all the rocker gear from the original head and just bolt it to the new one if u r unsure of its condition or compatability

haha this guy is too funny. My mates old GSL apprantly had a 4G32 head on a 4G37 bottom end for high comp?? My guess is that they are interchangable... but check it out first.

So would it lower the compression if I put a 4G37 head on it?

Maybe an an oppertunity for a bit more boost........

I wonder how much boost the tiny TC04 will supply before spitting a dummy?

Also, what are some causes of a blown head gasket I can check, to ensure I don't have to do it again......

yeah possibly... check with a head joint firstly though. Re 4G37 head
causes of a blown HG - too much boost, lack of tension on the HG bolts, or un-eveness of tension on the HG bolts. But more often than not the gasket is just old and lets go... shitty old coolant/water is another one that can eat away at the HG.
