I heard bp is 97 octane ptimax 98, which one eould u use nad why?

It seems to logical to use 98 but some people say bp is the best why is that

last questions with using these fuels, they reduces pinging compared to leaded???

BP ULTIMATE 98

Thats the good stuff!

Guaranteed 98+ Octane

A noticable difference for me.

I have mates with 10 second Rotors. They can only run BP Ultimate.
Pings like crazy on Optimax.

The only problem here is that there is only 2 servos with the good stuff...

I use BP or Shell. Sorry, but unless you have a really highly tuned motor, the difference is negligable.

My GSX-R ran 12.5:1 comp and was not exactly stock, never noticed any real difference. Now "shell racing fuel A", at 120 octane rating.....that was good. Wonder if it's still available?????.....

have a look there (fair enough you couldn't find it, since it was a hijack.)

as grumbly said, you're not going to notice the diff. I always put BP in my car, and it runs fine. optimax runs fine too, hell, it's ruinning so rich that even on premium (VR4 - 15psi) it's not even close to pinging.

It's funny how our boosted and knock sensor etc equipped cars, don't seem to show much gain on premium fuels, i can't as yet feel a different between leaded and optimax, maybe coz there's only what 1ron between them...even economy...but my stockish 1.8 Lancer coupe used to nang on the good juice..?...funny huh...

anyway.....yadda yadda...

i use BP ultimate (coz it's closer to my house than the SHELL servo) i don't think there's really any difference between the two fuels as i've used both before. wouldn't really go to anything below the 98 octane stuff though...

if you are in brisbane i know the general manager of the BP distrubition plant at breaky creek, i can assure you that all shell and bp service stations actually get there fuel from this plant in brisbane, i am not sure about the rest of the states though.

I noticed this the other day as the warmer weather is slowly coming towards us (VIC), I found that Caltex Gold is better in winter and Optimax is better in summer, my theory is that when the weather is colder and the engine runs a bit richer the Caltex is a better mix and the oposite for Optimax. Also could be that the temperature has influence on how each company extracts the fuel from cued oil but I dunno, I'm just talking shiat here.

I wouldn't go pouring av gas in too soon before talking and thinking about it a bit...a high octane fuel yeah, like 100ron race fuel or maybe higher..(remember your pistons may not like getting too hot from such a fuel....if they did we might all be running on LPG tanks full of pure nitrous..!!!)....perhaps mixed avgas could work..not sure..what's it's chemical composition of fuels..??

Yes it will increase your octane but you will need to enrich your fuelling by approx 10% and unless your running 18+ psi boost don't bother you won't feel any difference.
