| Post subject: | Steering rack |
Hi all, My car has a manual steering rack. I want to get it rebuild before the engine goes in. I saw on ebay usa that couple of places sell brand new ones for 280 USD ( I am not sure if they post it) Is there a place in Melbourne that can have it rebuild? or should I do it myself. What parts do I need? Thank you all. |

I wouldn't bother with rebuilding a manual steering rack unless you think there is something wrong with it. But if you really want to, the pinion runs in a couple of bearings and it has a seal also. You would have to set up the preload for the pinion bearings and also the rack pad would need to be set up. There is probably a couple of seals or shims or o-rings and maybe a replaceable bush. |
