Just put in some new kyb front struts and i had a good looking pair of strut tops that came with the car when i bought it (old ones were cracked badly), so changed them over too. But after going around the block to see how the new struts went i got home popped the bonnet and there are already slight cracks appearing in the strut tops. Nowhere near as bad as the ones i replaced but not something i really wanted to see.

Had a look around and found some bloke selling them on ebay but he won't post to oz http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Front-Upper-Strut-Mounts-Dodge-Colt-Mitsubishi-Cordia-Tredia-1983-1991-K9849-/160946634403. Good price though.

I'm going to find out if they can still be sourced from japan but threads over 6 years old on this forum stated they were $162 a pop back then so doubt they'd be any cheaper now.

What i'd really like to get is some of these k-macs http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-Cordia-1982-1987-Front-Camber-Caster-kit-Stage-2-Street-Race-/131365602855?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e96000627 but i'll be buggered before i pay that price.

Just wondering if anybody knows any other avenue or solution to this problem. Or does anyone have any old k-macs they'd like to part with? Seems plenty of people on this forum got a pair for their car and it's not really a part you leave on the car if it's to be scrapped so maybe someone has some lying around. Let us know if you do.

Simon,
I've just spent the last 2 hours at sprints..........apparently the CC lancer runs the same part........the part numbers were similar, the picture looked exact.......I can't determine whether the bolt pattern (2) is the same distance apart as the cordia........If it is we are all in luck as they are only $35 each and available.

I have asked for a measurement and should hear something on Tuesday.

That's great news. Will definitely pick up a set if they're the same.

I think we'll be in luck Andrew. K-mac have the CC lancer bolt distance at 143mm. I just measured some old cordia hats and yep, 143mm.

That's great news....but I just measured one of mine, from centre of thread to centre of thread was 135mm.

Might have to buy one just to check the thread location.

Got the verniers out and yeah your right, bolt centre to centre is 135mm. Perhaps they measure it from the edge of the bolts which gives me 144mm. I just got back from pep's (we don't have sprints in this neck of the woods) and got them to find the cc lancer top, but i think now i've led them down the garden path.

How much of an issue do you think it would cause to oval out the strut tower bolt holes to make one of these things fit. Will only be around 4mm each side. With a strut brace attached can you see any issue in doing this?

I found this on ebay but the dude doesn't post to oz. I've messaged him anyways because he has some conflicting info on his page.

A lot of compatible vehicles. Need to do a bit of searching. Hyundai elantra or the mirage will be the best bet.

Yeah i looked at that but shipping costs just as much as the tops and with how shyte the aussie dollar is at the moment ends up being around the $115 mark. Will see what turns up locally first.
