The last couple of weeks my cordia has not not firing on all 4 c's more so under load.. Was a pretty aka jerky ride up the Adelaide hills freeway over the weekend. what I have found is there is an arc on the coil from the lead that comes from distributor back to the terminals on the coil. I'm guessing that its either leads, coil or crack in the distributor somewhere?? Where is the best place to start. btw I had a coil from Repco sitting around and I changed it over but the damn car would not start. It would turn over however |

Hey Merv, had the same problems many years ago........my coil would trace a spark back into the fuel return line (fully visible) check all of the engine and chassis earths (as some of mine had corroded).....then replace the coil lead. Might be best for you to replace the negative lead to the battery, after many years they oxidize internally. |

The are 2 body earths.....1 off of the negative battery lead, the other is on the inlet manifold to the firewall.........grab a Bosch GT-40R, I've never had one fail......I actually have one on the AC.....I removed the "red" cover and painted it black to look stock. |

Changed over coil, checked earths, new plugs and not much change I checked the resistance in the leads and one was 15ohm, the others were 10-12.5 with one not registering. I guess I could do with a set of new leads? What u think? |

Electricity always takes the easiest path. So if your coil lead is arcing out, then its easier for the electricity to do that rather than go through the coil lead, distributor cap, rotor, plug leads or plugs. Since you have already replaced the plugs, try a set of leads but make sure you replace the coil lead because it will be stuffed now. |
