Ok I'm having a stab in the dark hear I have another project in the build using and old school suck through turbo system and I am now in the process of working out the ignition system?

My question is what is the E101 ignition igniter?
Is it separate from the ECU and works only with the dissy?

From what I understand it retards ignition working along side the knock sensor and boost sensor can this unit be adapted to use on other vehicles.

Only reason I'm looking at this as I have a lot of this stuff spare in the shed so I thought instead of going out buying other expensive off the shelf units adapted one from another car.

I mite have to look at what the sigma turbos run as very similar set up to what I'm running.

Any thoughts?

The E101 is separate from the ECU, should be easily adapted to another engine........if you put on another car you will either have to use the dizzy or remove its reluctor pickup to work properly.

I may be in way over my head hear. Its to adapt to a series 2 Nissan blue bird electronic distributor as a means of timing retard under boost can this be achieved or will the guts from a cordia dizzy still need to be fitted to the bluebird dizzy or just make the whole cordia dizzy fit the Nissan engine.

The dizzy is basically a "magnet", when the field aligns it generates a signal to the igniter to fire the coil, when the field collapses (pickup moves away from reluctor) spark stops....... so basically you should be able to wire to the Nissan dizzy without any troubles. (You will need to check the resistance of the reluctor though........hopefully it's about the same as the Nissan) :)

The resistance across the Bluebird dizzy is .8 ohms and the Cordia one is 1 ohm will this be a problem?

Will my idea work? is this a good solution for a boost retard on my Nissan if you think so I will do a lot more research so I under stand all of this.

The boost retard is in the diaphragm on the distributor. The e101 is just an ignition module that can retard timing if it receives a signal from the knock sensor that the engine is detonating.

So the Cordia's boost sensor has nothing to do with retarding timing in reference to inlet pressure?

Could it be possible to fit the vacuum/boost diaphragm from the Cordia dizzy to the Nissan one and use the whole system including knock sensor and E101?

The "boost retard" is not as such, when vaccum turns into boost the breaker plate simply moves back to it's orginal position.......therefore base timing, if knock is heard the E101 will further retard timing by a total of 8 degrees.

Done a bit of reading and looks like I will need a duel reference distributor diaphragm to retard the timing on boost.
I will see if I can modify the original Nissan one, or adapt the Cordia one to work on the nissan dizzy.
I still like the idea of the knock sensor retarding it further if it needs to so I would still like to have a play with it.

Cheers that will be very helpful.

The other thing is will any knock sensor work with the E101 as I don't have a Cordia one spare?
