Your car: 88 us spec cordia turbo
hi there folks just recently picked up a 88 turbo cordia for next to nothing. I knew about the car and the basics but nothing too crazy. I have owned many mitsu's 98 gsx eclipse,97 eclipse gs spyder converted awd turbo ( by me ), 97 galant, 08 lancer gts turbo using evo x parts still fastest base lancer on dragtimes.net!! so when i picked up the cordia i was unsure about what to do or where to go. So as it sits no motor or trans it was pulled prior to purchase. wiring ecu etc all in tact. I have a 4g64/63 hybrid i can throw in it however the manual transmission im unsure of. Also stock cordia wiring. I have a full gst eclipse wiring harness with 95 eeprom i can simply change everything over if thats easier in the long run? i Would also like to consider using a mitsubishi space bus rear sub frame and try to adapt a rwd setup. anybody have a link or information on rwd cordia i know its been done just not sure where to look. Biggest issue i have is the front sub frame. transmission would not work out very well with a fwd sub frame. I was thinking either starion, 240 sx or miata front subframe. any thoughts? Just a side note i picked the car up for $300 so at this point if i spend $5000 to convert to rwd or awd its still much cheaper then finding a evo,gsx eclipse, or any of that nature. i refuse to drive anything other then mitsu so that where i stand.lol

any thoughts or dreamers with ideas?

if anything just help me out with a fwd setup using a 4g63. need transmission and wiring advice.

The vr4 4g63 will bolt to the standard cordia manual box. Not sure about the 4g64/63 hydrid as i assume its the 4g64 block your using. The 94 galant gs was the only US car with the 4g64 that wasn't sohc, so that gearbox might be a bit stronger than anything else as i don't think any were turbo. Is your hybrid engine 6-bolt or 7-bolt? If your not using the 4g62 i don't think too much of the wiring will be useful. Will end up easier to change everything over i reckon.

Finding information on cordia 4wd or rwd is very difficult. From everything i've read you will have trouble going 4wd or rwd for 5K. You have to fabricate a tunnel underneath the car for the tailshaft, probably relocate the fuel tank plus a thousand other little things that will cost a fortune like getting rid of the rear beam axle and customising independent rear suspension. I'd definitely like to see it done though.
