So I just got back from a three wee holiday and was so excited to driver car when I got back. But... Nothing. No sign of life :(

I have tried to jump start it that brought a little life but still no start. Will leave it on longer tomorrow and see if that will do anything.

And ideas what could cause this? Any ideas of how to start it?

I have a little leak, passengers side front of the block? Any ideas as well? Is the alternator below this?

Thanks

If it came to life sounds like it needs more charging time. But there is a few things you can do.

Get a $20 multimeter from jaycar and see how much charge your battery has. If you can get the car running you can also use it to tell if your alternator is working properly.

How old is the battery? If it's a serviceable battery take each cap off and check the water levels and top up if necessary. Only use demineralised water.

Some old batteries, once they lose charge they're gone.

What are you leaking? Oil or water. The alternator is on the exhaust side of the engine below power steering pump.

Thanks for the help. As for the multimeter that sounds like a great idea. Just hope it starts as done fancy walking to jaycar haha.

The battery doesnt look too old, maybe a year? The dates were really hard to see.

As for the leak, it's oil, not heaps but enough to leave a mark on the floor

make sure you give the car a good run to get some charge back into the battery before you turn it off again, or else you could be walking home from jaycar!

Got it started this morning :) jump started after leaving it for a long time

Think it was something with my stereo that was always running so 3 weeks was too long and just kept draining the battery.

Thanks for the input
