Surely there's not much to get it going?

Can't help you with history though bud.

hen man, if i recall the query about the coil was how the last thread ended, my main concerns where with the smoking and the hesitation under acceleration. as i recall u gave me some great info in the past.

searched thru hundreds of threads and lots of forums tracing back before 2010 and still cant find any history of this car.... u would think with the amount of mods done it would be on a forum somewhere -_-\

Ok just a small update.

i got the battery charged up to start the car. and it fired up straight away but ran a little rough, not bad seeing as the motor hasnt even been turned over in a lil more than 2 years :).
where the car is atm its a bit cramped so tommorow we are going to move it from its current position so its easier to access the car from all sides.....
When the car started the No1 plug wasn't firing so i borrowed one from my dads jag and it smoothened up nicely still a bit smokey...
I revved the car a little bit once it had warmed and it backfired out the intake, so i checked the timing and it was way out, so thats on the cards for tomorrow.
the smoke isnt exactly black but it STINKS of fuel.. so im going to say that its running a bit rich.. having a microtech MT-4 fuel only system could only mean that adjustment would be a pain in the ass..

Brad

also trying to get my hands on the microtech software to perhaps diagnose the "richness" issue and maybe rectify it.

ok checked the timing today and it was way off, so its now spot on. but the car is still hesitating to rev and then will backfire from somewhere in the front of the engine perhaps out the intake.....

Moved the car into a more accessible position and barely had enough poer to get up the driveway... seems like when its under load it has the most issue.

it was fine when idling but as soon as i gave it some revs plumes of blue smoke come out the exhaust.... <<< i was already aware of this but i dont think that it explains the other issue to me it sounds like timing but having recified it, it still is backfiring and hesitating.

i was going to do another compression test but ran out of daylight.

May have a sticky/non seating valve Brad........or it's running that rich the residue fuel is being ignited before the spark plug........compression test will tell you.

Depends if the valve clearance is correct, if not take the head off and re machine the valve to suit. :(

hmmm perhaps it would be more worth while to save my pennies and go a VR4??... but i love the nostalgia of having a dash motor.

What would u suggest i do?

Also would a sticky valve seat cause the car to chain smoke??

I personally would go the VR4 route........engine is more powerful and reliable against the DASH engine.......and aftermarket/standard parts for the VR4 are easy to obtain.

Sticky seat won't cause the engine to smoke, but let compression into the manifolds. (Cylinder won't seal)
