how about adding in your first post how it happened, instead of having 2 threads with half of the info in each.... again.....

are you sure its actually going into gear?

I'm also thinking but im not really sure on this so somebody correct me if i'm wrong! But maybe if your clutch is completely fudged there won't be any coupling between the engine and the box.... resulting in your symptoms?

The thrust bearing would only stop you from being able to disengage the clutch. Its either you clutch or pressure plate has had it. Apart from that one of your gear linkages may have fallen off and your not actually putting it into gear.

It could be a number of things, but thats what my money's on - since you have already tried the actuator rod.
Clutches will normally slip before they break, but not impossible for them to just go pop!

the cup must have stayed in the box or else you would have dropped gearbox oil everywhere lol.
That's a bit strange though, how the fudge does a driveshaft pop out like that?

My bet is it has no snap ring.

This also happened to the prevoius owner (James)......he probably didn't re-fill the box.

The snap ring is a circlip on the end if the drive shaft that locks the shaft into the gearbox. If its missing the driveshaft would be only sitting there and could pop out at any time. I didn't think of the driveshaft as normally they would fall partially out and you can hear them grinding against the cogs, or once they are full out they are hitting the ground and easy to see.
