Im really not having much look with this car :( It already smokes a little but this morning i got stuck in a little traffic and it started to overheat. I checked the coolant and it is full and i cant see any visible coolant leaks however i have notice some oil around the alternator? Its a VR4 turbo engine in it. Any ideas what the overheating could be and would it be linked with the smoke?

Thanks Guys im asking a lot of questions but i find it very helpful.

Check your thermo's! My Cordia overheats in about 30 seconds in heavy traffic without thermos. You got a stock radiator? If so, get rid of it and get something decent (Koyo do a good aluminium radiator that will sht on a stock 20 something year old radiator).

Sorted, random switch in the dash, turn the fan off? Any ideas why this would be installed?

It was probably fitted to bypass the factory setup which wasn't working.

As coop1er said........the thermatic switches bugger up in the bottom of the radiator in these cars......quick fix......earth it via a switch........only problem is you need to remember to turn it on!!!!

If the switch is stuffed I would use a Davies Craig adjustable thermo switch........or buy an aftermarket computer to turn it on and off.

The switch works fine, I just didn't know what it did, so i pressed it, then overheated haha and it took a day for me to put two and two together. All sorted now. This car seems to be one thing after another. Still makes me smile every time her.

Thanks
