Found what i hope is a solution to the floating bolt through the engine mount, which i'm sure contributes to these things destroying themselves so quickly. Mr Bishi thought that by putting jagged edges on the sides of the shaft that the bolt goes through, then tightening these against the bracket when you do the bolt up would be enough. I thought about taking the brackets off the car, drilling the bolt holes to the same size as the shaft in the mount insert and then finding a bolt to suit...but then i thought bugger that.

So i bought some nolathane swaybar bushes and you have to buy a pack of 8...can't buy them individually, so i had 4 left over. Then i thought about doing this and it seemed like a good idea. Not sure if you would have this problem with nolathane mount inserts, but for the rubber inserts i'm hoping this will give them a longer life.

Bolt sits in there nice and snug now. You just have to cut the bushes to size. I put one in each side. 3 per mount would be ideal. Takes a bit longer to install but hopefully it will make a difference.

I hate too say this but your using the wrong sized bolt.........all of the engine mount bolts are sized to suit.

That's impossible. The bolt holes on the bracket that the engine mount attaches to are sized perfectly for the size bolt i'm using. The bolt in that picture is an M10. So what your saying is that all the engine mount bolts are, what, M14 or 16. All 3 cordias i've pulled apart have had the same size engine mount bolt that is shown in the picture. A bolt that would fit the mount snugly would be one thick bastard of a bolt. If you have pictures i'd like to see one.

Yeah they're all new inserts. Kelpro aftermarket ones. I think the problem is the original inserts...or maybe even a different aftermarket brand, had a smaller center shaft which was more suited to the original bolt. These kelpro inserts sort of left me no choice but to do what i did. Should still work fine. That bolt in your photo is an M10...so the bolt's right...it's just the inserts are shit.

No they are not all the same, The front one which is what he done this work on is bigger than the bolt all the ones you have taken pictures of bitza is the rear and gearbox side bolts which are a flush fit but the front engine mount has knurl marks which are supposed to bit into the the part that is attached to the motor as he said the actual whole size in the mount is the size of the bolt but then the whole through the centre is huge i fixed this by makeing full nolathane mounts and useing a rear mount sleave for the front,

How do the full nolathane mounts go? Do you get much vibration through the car?

no It doesn't add much vibration there is different grades of nolathane available i used 75-80 i can't remember but it is a bit softer and absords the vibration, it makes your shifts alot tighter and you don't get the engine rock like you do with those soft rubber mounts
