The box should fit as normal.........from my calculations there should be no requirement to cut the rail as the box will sit "just" under it.

Here's the stats:

Cordia (KM164): Galant (KM206)

1st 4.070 1st 3.454
2nd 2.244 2nd 1.947
3rd 1.467 3rd 1.285
4th 1.105 4th 0.937
5th 0.855 5th 0.756
rev 4.109 rev 3.083

As you can see the KM206 is taller geared to the cordia box.

Had a play again tonight.........even the KM206 inspection plate fits the KM164.......and the KM164 has provision for the 12mm bolt to mount on the firewall side of the block......better than using the "support" that locates on the engine mount.

i bought a KM206 yesterday and fitted it..

it doesn't quite fit.. it is bolted in and looks like everything will work besides for it hitting the chassis rail, it only needs a bees dick to fit as well. i'm off to the wreckers today to do more investigating. i will add picks later to show u guys what i mean..

i will be getting this gearbox to fit!!!!!

Does the gearbox actually bolt up to the block without a gap?

Or does the rear of the box just need to come up a fraction to fit the mount?

Just had another look...........I've noticed in the above pic that the ribbing might be a problem.........solution, fit the KM210 rear housing.......it's the same pattern minus ribbing leaving another 4 - 5mm clearance.

here is the progress so far, it's not what i wanted to do.. But the gearbox wouldn't fit without it interfering the chassis rail. Using a butane torch and a ball peen hammer i've moulded the rail to allow the box to fit, and bolt up using the nimbus mount. it still rubs up against the rail... So if you could please have a look at that KM210 rear cover for Bitza to see if it fits the KM206 and if it is shorter at all, that would be a great help. here are some pics:

Nice pics........at least we didn't need to make a custom mount.......I had a look at both rear housings, they are the same height. Is it only the back rear corner of the gearbox that requires modification or does the whole housing sit on the rail?

everything will line up and work. it is just that the rear of the gearbox wants to sit up where the chassis rail is, the engine mounts wont line up with the rear of the gearbox sitting under the chassis.. the ball peen and butane torch is not getting me very far. i still need the gearbox to move across where the chassis is about 10mm to have everything line up without things rubbing.

any ideas???? i'm not sure what to do.. Are u able to engineer a rail being cut and then reinforced??

You can get an engineer to certify the modification on the rail...........leave it with me.......I'll have a look to see if I can somehow modify the rear extension housing to suit.

i had a look, you cant modify the rear extension housing (end cap). if you pull it off to have a look inside there are selector forks and gears directly under the cap..
