Hi,
I have just joined the forum in the hope that I can learn a bit about my engine and warming it up a bit.
I have a stock low km 85 4G63 and I am considering fitting a Cordia exhaust and turbo to blow through my 32/36 Webber at about 6 PSI.
I only want a modest improvement in torque.
I have not been able to find the stock compression ratio but feel it is 8.5-8.8. Can any member tell me the correct ratio?
Can anyone help me out with info or comments please?
Regards, Al

An Australian delivered l300 with a 4g63 from that period has an 8.5:1 compression ratio.

Hi,
Thanks for confirming that comp ratio.
I have been trying to work out, from photos, the Cordia turbo layout.
I think I see the compressor to the drivers side, that would be the rear on a RWD.
No room at the back. I need to fit intake to front and exhaust to rear on an 8 valve head.
Anyone know of a manifold that will allow that?
Based on info on this site an T04 turbo would be more than enough for my goals.
Thanks and regards, Al

If you have a lot of room on the side of the engine then you could bolt the turbo 180ยบ so the compressor faces the front. You would then need to fine tune orientation of the bearing housing and wastegate actuator.

Another option would be to use a Starion exhaust manifold which is rwd and a top mount and places the turbo in a more central position compared to the Cordia manifold.

Don't discount using a Mitsubishi turbo as most TC/TD series turbos will bolt up to either Cordia or Starion manifolds. Any Garrett turbo will need an adaptor plate made.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I have 270mm width from the exhaust flange face and I note that the turbo bolts in line with the no3 port.
If the space seems good then it comes down to boost limits, fuel pressure and timing mods.
With no computer I suppose it will be compromises everywhere.
I am interesred in any ideas or advice from people who have done this.
Thanks again, Al
