ok guys and girls this question would of been asked a million times before but have just joined one of the kids has 83 non turbo 1800 cordia when its hot and you go to start it it only starts when you let the key go. the coil was replaced as it was leaking oil but the new coil gets very hot. is this normal it has no ballest resistor. have recently only purchased it and it had been parked up in a barn for the last 15 years thank you

You need a ballast resistor for the coil..........they don't like seen 12volt.........and 8ohm one will help, this will reduce voltage to ensure the coil and the points don't burn!
