I did the reverse (Cordia to VR4).. I simply just bent the lines.. heated first ofcourse.

I went evo 3, same concept though.

I didn’t use heat though. I didn’t see the point as it requires the ever so slightest bend. Just be sure to use a large radius bend from as far away from the master as possible. This enables the same result with far less bend.

Try to get it first shot as cycling them will eventually cause failure due to fatigue.

Got another Question,

Ive been looking at why they use a larger master in the vr4 / evo / magna etc , it seems to be because of the ABS unit , and as we are not running ABS I not sure it would make a large difference , I think the other master could still be ok , but the booster is a must when fitting rear disc/calipers

please fill me in if you have any thoughts

I wouldn't know coz i changed the booster and brake master the same time..
Originally I ran twin pot fronts/magna rears with stock booster/master..
Did make abit of an improvement though.

But yes you could be right. I do have a galant gsr master just sitting here if you want it.

Larger masters do heaps Trav, they allow more press to the calliper resulting in less effort to stop quicker and because of this you achieve higher pedal feel.

Reason why the vr4 / evo / magna etc come with larger master, booster and callipers is to accommodate for the extra weight of these larger cars. Fortunately for us they are a cheap upgrade for the cordia :)

Agreed,
If you convert the cordia to rear disc the pedal will "fall away", upgrading to magna or bigger booster will give better brake pedal feel.

Just need to fit the 230mm twin unit from the TL magna and 25mm master to run the GTO calipers now and retain pedal height.

Andrew,

Isn’t the booster just for Vacuumed assist to deliver a softer pedal feel and the master to do what you stated above?

Or do some booster increase rod throw?

If you look at the magna booster the rod throw is longer, therefore giving a shorter pedal, I couldnt drive the cordia once the magna rear was installed, the total diameter of the booster was 205mm, but the rear brakes were 254mm, leaving the pedal on the floor.............once the 230mm single booster was fitted the pedal height was normal........basically the larger the booster the more vacc is produced to ensure relative pedal height once pushed.

Ive already got a booster from E39A Jspec VR4 ( 8" + 9" ) and a 1" master from a Aus spec, but thanks for the offer Tim , but I was thinking it would only be usefull with ABS ... lol, I do have a ABS system here also but that would be to much work, but now I will fit the 1" master also , thanks for clearing it up for me guys, I got a quote for braided lines also which are about $100 per side and $80 for the clutch line which will help also and Ive got some Shell race brake fluid to suite , now Im going to check out pads and rotors

the magna booster sounds like a good way to go also , and there easy to get your hands on one also

I will get some pics when it arrives , the TJ to the TW are the same part number , but I think my master is the round cap one but its a 1" for the ABS and has the insert piece

I would love to connect the ABS but the wiring would be a killer to do , I have all the ABS units for EVO and VR4 along with ABS ECU, wheel sensors, plus g sensors

Be careful of the later magna master bolt pattern, it's 90mm compared to the older versions of 75mm, which means you'll need the booster too suit.

Is bracing the master a good idea? does it provide much bonus?

sweet I didnt know they had a different size , I will ask Mal @ Mitsfix to see if he has the other also , thanks for letting me know

the brake master stopper helps alot in the Lancer CC model as there is alot of firewall flex

Ive fitted a Cusco one to me CC Lancer Evo and it was a massive difference , I do have a spare which I was going to try adapt to the cordia, but I might need a full custom one, but each car wil give differest results

the ABS is great , best way to cheat
