Hey Guys...

Does any one have a Diagram of were the vacume lines on the manifold go ?

Im just useing it as a cross reference for my car on wed when i pull them all off and re do them jsut incase they are wrong

Well thanx for the diagram mate

I did it all today and got the Rpm to sit stable still goes up and down 100rpm or so

But it is alot smother

But one more question

It surrges when im at say 60khr and its doing my head in i re did all the vacume lines and she is a hell of alot smother and the vac advance on the Dizzy wasnt hooked up but she is now

The surging hasent changed any of that at all so fudged if i know what it is

But i have found that one of the dump pipe Bolts doesnt have a nut and i can hear it leaking But i dont think that would cause the surging

The Airflow meter is working as if i un plug it dies lol

No boost at all

On boost or under load there is no problem lol

Ok let me Explain it a little better

Say im at 60ks

And i the idel is at 2300 rpm in 3rd and i keep my foot even just keeping it at that rpm and speed it jolts every few seconds like its wanting to go
Its hard to explain as it doesnt do it under boost
It feels like its a a mis but its not im so confused lol


On a cold start it idels at 1500 rpm which is a normal cold start

Sounds like your airflow meter is actually faulty, the service manual actually states:

A quick check of the airflow sensor serviceability is to remove the sensor wiring with the engine at idle. If the sensor is serviceable, the engine speed will drop then return to normal. If no change is noticed in the engine speed, replace the air flow sensor

Well it does change it stalls lol

I have checked for fault codes and there wasnt any for the a/f meter

If you have zero fault codes the only thing left is to give the engine a thorough service.

It might need plugs, leads, fuel filter, dissy cap and rotor etc.

Done all that today lol besides the Rotor

its doing my head in why it would have spiratic idle while sitting still sits around 1000 to 1500 and jumps every so slightly

And while coasting with even presure not going any faster it jolts

So yea ..............................


Has anyone alse had this problem very search i have done its while people are on boost.... not while staying at 60ks or any speed at that matter

Ahh ccrap

Well i think you are right about the AFM

My wife said just try it and the c ar idels almost the same as if the afm was pluged in actualy it idels smoother lol

So Who in brisbane has a Spare working AFM they want to sell me or let me test it with to confirm :D

Try driving the car with the AFM disconnected...........see if the problem still exists.

Most cordia's will still drive well but lack acceleration enrichment as the ECU can't read it's airflow and defaults to a common value.

If the problem remains it's not the AFM.

No not really................the ECU just won't add extra fuel when the throttle is "suddenly" opened.

The car should drive the same, given it's an AC fuel mixtures should be controlled, but if an AB will run a little richer.

Ok well with the AFM pluged in it runs rough with it un pluged it will actually idle smooth if you understand me

Well just went for a drive and it runs shit loads better lol

But my Vac is around 15ish i have replaced all the vac lines so there is no leak

Can the low vac be casued by the dump pipe being loose ?

Your vac reading isn't that low.............most run around 15 - 20HG............sounds like you have it all sussed, just need an airflow meter.

Most guys when they modify the cordia remove the "honeycomb" in the rear of the sensor in hope for a better airflow, but this disturbs the airflow past the karmen vortex generating rod causing erratic readings in the receiver from the transmitter. I have found this in many cordia's with your problem, including VR4's.
