The question is should I use this bonnet or the one I took off?

Yep, use that bonnet Andrew.
Are you going to paint the whole car?

Painting metallics is a pain, it will always turn out a different colour, even on touch ups with the same batch of paint............so yes, I will respray the whole car to ensure colour consistency.

you gonna respray the whole thing, or just the top half? you could just mask the bottom, unless you're set on a full respray.

i like those bonnets :) i got one too :)

cool. less work. Who's doing the respray? looks like an easy job to do 2 tone with, you don't have to worry about blending the 2 colours together flat :)

The shed will be fine........a good clean and some water won't go astray...............that's the original place it was sprayed.

Had a bit of a play with some paint and air pressures........3 bar......too silver (blue on the bottom).............2.5 bar...to dark........2.0 bar perfect..........looks like touch ups only.

Bit hard to see in the photo.........but the colour matches the guard.

Time to start blocking the bonnet back.

After weeks of blocking and repairing imperfections the bonnet is ready for colour..........the only problem is I painted the scoop and now I have run out.........need to get more and colour matched.

Here's how it's looking.

Well...........it looks like a simple panel spray has turned into a full respray............the colour is MILES off.........more of a charcoal blue than a purple blue.............ah well..........time to get rubbing.

Have a look at the front of the guard to the back...............the colour is different.

Peakin. How is the colour so far off? Was it a bad mix or has your paint faded over time?

Why not get it re-matched? Any competent panel beater should be able to get a good match not noticable by the untrained eye. That is surely better than having to re-paint the whole car.
