Not necessarily. You can do it to a SOHC 63B motor too ;)

Saw him recently; purchased a Grumbly radiator from him! :P If he has done the 2.3L conversion, know him, it will all be under wraps...

There is little to be gained by this conversion.

'Spool-up' of your Turbo will be sooner and HP/cu.in will be less so reliability should be better, but Piston speed will be higher also, so you have to adjust your redline, otherwise reliability will actually be worse. Not to mention, that to do this conversion correctly, you need to have the Intake choke diameter enlarged correctly otherwise you will have fuel atomisation issues from too high port velocities.

There is no bonus HP to be had, only a shift in the power-band which allows you to use a larger Turbo. Which is not sensible in a light FWD vehicle, that needs traction more so then torque. You can help it by running a lighter Flywheel but that is dependent on each setups needs.

My current VR4 revs too quickly........I actually don't use first gear......the new engine has all the goods......wiesco pistons, eagle rods and stage 3 280 Brian Crower cams.
The head has undergone porting and titanium valves will be fitted.

I can't see this set up being unreliable, and it should still rev to 6000rpm.

He is right in that, most strokers use a longer stroke (just for those who dont know), thus often rev less.

There's debate as to how effective they are, because of the crank angle and such... but yeah...

Stroked VR4 motor FTW! Sounds like you're building something awesome bitza.

By the sounds of it, its not worth doing... what would be a good engine upgrade or would one just reco the original cordia engine and spruce that up..

.

Not necessarily. You wouldn't waste your time in the average application, but Bitza's build won't be for the faint hearted, therefore it is warranted. What will transpire from that can only be tested in time seeing as it has not yet been accomplished in a Cordia chassis....

Eclipz...if memory serves me correctly, I thought we went through the rigmarole of engine options...?

Ok..............tried firing up the 2.3 today..................no go..............I have used a Starion (larger) starter motor and have flatened 2 500cc batteries............I know the motor is tight but hell!!!!......................might have to go for a reduction drive magna starter motor...........stay tuned.

Has anybody else had this problem?

You checked all the fundamentals? spark+fuel? as fresh motor would assume compression :P

Is it cranking at all? Or just draining batteries?
