That is not a 62 head gasket........piston size is 82mm for the cordia and 85mm for the 2 litre.......you will blow this gasket as the fire rings are nowhere near the cylinder.

Re-using the head bolts is fine, they are not torque to yield bolts.

Here is a pic of a standard gasket, you can see the fire rings are not round, they have a relief in them for the inlet and exhaust valves.......are you sure your head gasket is 82mm?

Post subject:  Re: Cordia head bolts

i see what you mean now .
i have measured it says 85mm.
i have sent email to the company i bought the gasket.
just waiting on reply.
mean while took pic of gasket.
you can see very small gap between bore and firering.
im disappointed.
these people guarantee the gasket to fit.

Hi Fernando thank you for purchasing one of our gaskets.
we understand your concerns .
we made this gasket so it would suit many applications not just for Mit 4G62 or 4g63.
this High Performance Street, Mild Race, for high Boost or Nitrous.
It's not your normal cheap gasket.
is has warranty as long as its been installed by license mechanic .

If you have the part number you can always try Amayama.

https://www.amayama.com/en/part/mitsubishi/md189978

I've bought from them and they are pretty good. Otherwise regularly search ebay for a regrind kit, especially US ebay, as they can come up very cheap due to no one buying their surplus stock. I once got a full gasket set for a 4G62 rebuild for $60 posted, but that was many years ago.

Here you go. quick search of ebay, there's one in Victoria for $33

Post subject:  Re: Cordia head bolts

lol most gaskets your talking about are for 2L specially ebay.
you would need to ask what size fire rings .
cause they say 63 is same as 62 i did a lot of ringing around.
alibaba gaskets are good 2 years warranty but can't buy just one .
again i had to contact them about size there 81.5mm .
picking up 1 from burson brand Permaseal F/R 82mm is good brand Australian owned.
http://www.aagaskets.com.au/about.aspx

i trust anything made here
the vrs kit from ebay i rang UltraCheapAuto spoke to Sharon
very nice and helpful person there i explained gasket is not right for 62
gave them a picture of andrew gasket as well as the size f rings.
at first it was like i don't know what im talking about ,then i gave them
the Mitsubishi part number they started checking and apologized .
they are correcting the problem now
i did a lot of running around today hope someone will use this information

That sucks really.

Andrew, is the 4G62 sohc head gasket the same as the 4G63 sohc headgasket? I thought they were the same but i guess they're not according to Fernando's research.
