Hey Guys,

So I’ve just purchased my first Cordia, Swapped it for my V8 Commodore (was amazing but needed a change). I’ve only had the car for a few hours but think I’m gonna love it. It’s a VR4 conversion so very quick but also a little cautious about a turbo (had one go one me before) but I guess that’s life. Any ideas what I should look for when it comes to improvements or mods? Also it seems to be running a little rich and puffs out a bit of smoke when I rev? Any ideas? I’m pretty new to all this so wish me luck

First of all welcome to Cordia Power bud... And a very good choice in car... haha

Wich one did you buy? Is he from this forum? Cause two people recently sold there's...

It could need to be re-tuned as it might be wrong, a good tune can determine the life of the car...

Yeah it seems to be the right move, everytime I start it I seem to smile haha
Yeah I bought Oddsox's car. The white VR4, loving it :) Looks standard but has a real punch. What are you running in yours?
Where are you from? Im in sydney you know any reliable mechanics around? Someone that is used to a Cordia?

I have the original 4g62 engine but bought a vr4 engine recently and having new forged pistons, rings and bearings put in to freshen it up. Cant wait tell its in, should be quick... Im in sydney too man, im in Rockdale. There is a few of us in sydney:- RawGsr (Nathan), smokincordia (Sol), 4cylturbo (Simon) and a few others too, where do you live?

V&E Rigoli have done a lot of cordias and quick ones, there is Buckley St Auto they built great cordias back in the days, the fact you have a vr4 in it you can send it to quite a few mechanics cause its more common than the standard engine...

Meek sells VR4 related parts. If you ask him nicely he might even do some work on it too.

I'm just in Bronte 2dmentd, so not far away, I can see a meet somewhere in the middle happening in the future. Good to see there are still a few on the road. They are such cool looking cars. I might take her down to my normal garage and see what he says. He is normally quite reasonable. (for Midas).

And 4cylturbo thanks for the hint, i may have to meet this 'meek' guy and buy him a few beers ;)

Really want to know what work needs to be done so I can budget myself.

Thanks gsr-007, im looking forward to keeping this one alive. Just a few things i need to do first. Has a VR4 engine but needs to be registered with the RTA (any ideas on how this is done?) also do i need to get the engine engineered? I have heard somewhere that if its the same mounts its all good? Want to get it nice and legal before spending much money. What do you have?

Any ideas where I can find the engine number? And how I can check to make sure it's not stolen?

You can find the engine number stamped on the block, just above the alternator........alot of engines I have seen require a clean and a white texta just to read it!

What's a machine shop? And thanks bitza will check it out tomorrow! What mods you got on your VR4? Just so I can see what I should do first ;)

The add is a just in case. I'm a little worried about the smoke and legal side of the engine. I'm going to do everything I can to keep it. But if it's gonna cost me thousands it may have to go. My misses will kill me haha

Bitza! That sounds insane! Mine scares me and it's nowhere near as modified! Still FWD? You must dominate the road haha.

I will have faith in the cordia just no faith in my bank account haha
