Has anyone engineered a Cordia with a VR4 motor under the bonnet?? If you did, what did it take to get it engineered?

Is it a AC cordia turbo?

If so all i had to do was make it neat and tidy , run it off a vr4 computer , all pollution gear hooked up, quiet exhaust with a cat. Get the certificate then take car to get a change of engine number done,Weigh bridge ticket for the engineer too. go to rta and give them the documents.

More specifically I will be picking up Dave's (85_Cordia_GSR) Cordia in a few weeks and getting it back to mint condition. After that I'll be attempting to clear the defects and get it registered again. Defects were for being too low (fixed by reattaching the middle exhaust mount) and for the engine mods not being engineered. Was going to strap a standard 62 sohc in to clear the defects, however have been thinking about it and seeing as it is already setup for a VR4 I mights as well leave it that way.

So my question is, would I have no hope in getting his worked engine engineered? Obviously everything would be looking schmick when I get it done. If it is possible without costing me an arm and a leg to do, seriously considering buying the engine that was in it and engineering it. Seems stupid to change everything in it back to fit a standard engine, then eventually rip it out and put a VR4 back in.

if it was a gsr turbo to start with and ur replacing it a turbo engine then u dont need it to be engineered in nsw if u just put a stock vr4 in it, as its within the 15% cubic cap ,,,,its when u have mods like aftermarket manifolds and pod filters cause u drama ,,,,,ive been over this many times with the rta and im running an evo engine in mine and its legal, its when u mod it that becomes the problem as it would have more then a 15% power increase over the stock vr4.the would need to be engineered if.
it was a non turbo car to start with= reason turbo,
if it was 15% larger cubic cap then the standard 1800cc=over 2070cc
if the replacement engine had a 15% increase power output over standard,,,,so they will be looking at aftermarket mods in this......
my car has been pulled over by the hwp task force and they went over it and no dramas because engine bay looks stock

awesome find/info.

Probably easiest to contact a certified engineer and ask them. or go through ADRs and check things. That way you can build it right the 1st time, without having to keep changing things to make it comply.

I know at least it'll need a cat convertor and charcoal cannister etc as its gotta have the emission control off the later car, but seeing its got a microtech thats abit of an issue. Although My mate engineered his R31 with alot of work including a microtech not too long ago..
