hey fellas, just got my car back after a turbo rebuild and was told my motor is just about cactus too.. great news. Iv decided to grab a fully reco'd motor (4G62) with a few modifications to it and wanted to also upgrade the fuel pump for better flow. Question is does the bosch 044 fuel pump fit straight in or is there alot of tampering to be done to fit it?
cheers =]

no, won't matter.

I rang around asking abut getting one installed before, and prices vary ALOT. it's actually not too bad doing it yourself. Only issue I've found is finding room for the lines. Isn't much space in there.

good luck fitting that too. shouldn't be using hose clamps/barbs on the engine side of the pump, as is high pressure, so you'll likely need something fabricated. If you already got an 044, may as well use it, otherwise that's not bad either.

Stock cordia pumps are quite good. You probably wont need to upgrade with your build.

I have made over 180FWkw on a stock AB GSR pump for years, with it my engine has seen 8500RPM and when it was last tuned it wasn't yet maxed out.

If you still feel you need an upgrade, get yourself a NEW bosch 070. They are inexpensive and rated to 400Hp. These are also known as a vl turbo pumps. Stay away from ebay as there are heaps of fakes.

No they are not. Trust me! ( NOT having a go at ya)

Any1 who has used a vlt pump would know they do not fit the cordia in the standard location without little modification.

Maybe fakes are the same. lol

thanks fellas, will consider the vl-t pump. I actually called one of those ebay places which stocked the fuel pump, apparently its the real deal, 1 year warranty if you buy there brand, they even stock the stock fuel pump, same pressure etc, might consider it since its 100 bucks shipped. Since it can comfortably handle my power as you have said :P

Just be careful mate there are way too many shonks on eBay. When they mention it’s "Their own brand" they are covering there arses for when the pump fails after the first year (warranty period). And just so you know genuine Bosch pumps are made in Czech Republic and not in Germany or China.

Being their brand = NOT a genuine Bosch pump = don’t bother buying it!

- O44’s are rated to 600hp and can be sourced for around $250.
- 070’s are rated to 400hp and around 100 bucks cheaper than the 044.

Thats true i don't really know much about the place that's selling them. Do you know where i can get my hands on the 070? super-cheap auto don't seem to know much so i didn't want to go through them. Do they come in kits or just the basic fuel pump assembly?
