cordia's name is supposedly an amalgam of "cordorite" (a lustrous mineral) and "diamonds" from Mitsubishi's Three Diamonds logo.
hmmmmm

Haha! I always wondered.... :)

Or else it could be:

Noun 1. Cordia - tropical deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs of the family Boraginaceae.

Humm.....that's funny, I test drove a sigma turbo and ended up with my cordia................the sigma was too slow to boost, must have been the carby set up!

But I did like the 2 tone paint work..............that was transferred to the cordia quick smart.

I can remember being at surfers raceway and the car club i belonged to was running a flat
hill climb { 1/2 a lap } there was a new cordia turbo and a new brock commodore
starting side by side. now the start straight was over 400m long, we figured the brock would
leave it standing so they were started together instead of the usual 10-15 sec gap, well
it just so happened that the cordia beat it to the first turn. The guy in the brock complained that
the cordia held him up around the corner [ he was a long standing club member and a good steerrer ]
So we had to do rerun with the 10-15 sec gap.
It certainly surprised all of us at the time, a 1.8ltr jap car had just seen off holdens best, cant remember the year exactly but think about 1984.

I used to own 2 sigmas, and they were great! Not as good as the Cordia, buts still had that kindof appeal!
In response to the 'cordia' name, I reckon it's the tree! hmm.... not too sure why! hahaha :D
