amr says the 1.8 will rev to 7500 happily,
the VR4 is redlined at 7000, but could probably go to 8000 infrequently without ill effect.

I raced Nicks VR-4 and we were dead equal (I was in my AC) until I had to change gears on 6000 (redline) and Nick changed at his redline (7000), that was the only thing that killed me.

thts interesting rob...tho i guess that's why they say the vr4 motor is strong, it can easy rev to 7K...

the question to me is, are we asking what they rev to ie keep building power as stock or, if a limiter cuts in or are we asking when a rod will say g'day through the block..??...

I would have loved to see amr rev his 1.8 to 7500 everyday... have to c it 2 believe it.

My 1.8 used to rev to 6800 (depending on how much boost. the more boost the higher it could rev) on 20psi.(stock exhaust)
Then my 2L 8 Valve with MT8 and zorts could only get to 5500 on 12psi and abouy 6500 on 20psi.(it used to flood, the dynotuners here suck!!)

Oh, and I might mention that the 2L cracked a pissy or two...
and the 1.8 is about to throw a leg out...dddrrrrrr...Gotta love noisy bearings.

admittedly my VR4 does seem to hit a wall at 90km/hr in second dunno what revs that is but it's before the 7500 limiter hits hard at about 105 ish.

Hmm I know my AB 4G62 stops at about 5500 in second on 85km/hr. It's got a bit of a vernier cam wheel and a stage one cam, front mount IC and boost a little over stock, hyperetic pistons . If I revved it to 7500 all the time the poor lil bugger would probly shit itself. Never needed to, even racing GTST poxy stock skylines it pulls like a compulsive wanker with revs rarely getting above 6100 or just on redline  .

My 1.8 running 15 psi valve bounces at around 6600 rpm. Particularly in first. I find that changing a bit after 6000 rpm in first, gives you a much better boost smack into second, particularly if you mash change.

Yeah keeping the revs up there is definitely the trick for launching etc. I'm interested in any launch /race techniques people are using 8) .

You rev it up, then ride the clutch a bit, and have a little wheel spin to keep the boost up.

Depending how doughy it is down low, you may have to launch at up to 5000 rpm.

i heard the stock limiters were set at 7500. I worked out why my cordia hits a wall at 90, when i was in having it's boost cut raised to 20psi for the new cooler that's coming, we checked it and it was set at 6880. now it's set at 7120 cut and 6880 limit just to be nice and safe.

My 1.8 has revved out to 6500 when i was caining it in 2nd, the only reason it didn't go higher is cos i didn't let it. It would have gone to 7500 easy. It sounded fine and was still pulling so hard and fast at 6.5 that i didn't realise it was redlining till i glanced at the tacho a second time.

Its awesome
