Ok, this has been discussed, and we're sorta beating a dead horse here (the origianl thread about this has been deleted, so unfortunantly i can't post there)

however, i also know i'm not alone with my sentiments, so i though i'd bring it up again.

Locked threads.

i've just had a quick search through, and here are the recently locked threads in the last month:

Now, some of these are valid reasons, however just to make a suggestion. Passive moderating. Why don't mods either delete threads all together, or edit them, or pm the creator of the thread and give them a chance to edit their own thread.

Perhaps this will be better than locking a thread, and posting to "declare themselves". Maybe if moderation is done behind the scenes, it won't seem like the forum is a frigging police state!!

(Perhaps this is where the "power hungry moderator" argument originated from)

this is just a suggestion, but i am curious to see people comments on my thoughts.

Since we discussed this last time, this has just gotten worse,

HAHA! Tailus has locked the past 11 threads.... Damn nazi....

Personally I have no problems with the moderation - except for a few of those thread in the "off topic" area which I think should just be allowed to go for gold, it's harmless fun, unless of course it gets offensive or abusive. Plus I prefer locks over deletion as at least the threads are still there!!

;)

PS: People. Keep this thread constructive (leave the abuse out) and it won't suffer the same fate!!

Personally I havent seen any real problems. Though a few members do sometimes take things a bit too serious. But maybe thats just because I am so laid back I see things like that.

I understand exactly what you mean, and it's how things started out, but as the forum's grown it's becaome increasingly difficult to find the time to politely pm every wrong doer and work out a compromise. The only solution is the police state we have now, which if you ask me, isn't unreasonably enforced at all.

im not trying to start an argument, im just suggesting try to make the modding less obvious.

this happened on nissansilvia.com with a couple of mods who thought that every time they moderated something to let it beknown to the world that they had l33t mod powers.

Though thankfully that's not really an issue any more, though i might add that on average there are much fewer threads being locked over there, and it's a much larger forum

Our names are on the forum index.... we dont NEED to let it be known. We post in the thread so that if anyone has an issue with it being locked, they know who to contact.

My answer to the problem - remove off topic completely and return this forum to the topic of cordias, as it was originally intended.

The other issue is that not all of the moderators names are NOT actually on the forum index

i can totally see why most of the noted threads were locked, maybe not the ones in off-topic, they just fade away after a week not much need for them to be locked. besides the one's like the spat between a mod and a member involving polls...
i think the mods are doing a good job.

On one forum i used to go to, the had a sticky called "we've seen these before" and they did a round-up of commonly posted topics ie- tt's, awd cordia, ignition wiring, you catch my drift... somewhat like the faq section, but there was one in each section.
maybe one of these threads would cut down on some of the pointless threads. just my $0.02

I believe that this forum is over moderated for whatever reason.

I would like to see a slightly more flexible approach.

Some things that I dont like:

The new template for the parts and accessories forum - surely
supplying all the info required in whatever format is good enough.

Whenever someone asks something basic or commonly asked,
everyone jumps all over them(not just the moderators) and tells
them to search. Sometimes all the info is not there to be found
and sometimes it is wrong. Also this discourages any new discussion
of topics and new ideas.

Whenever a topic degenerates into a bit of bs, this should not
necessarily be discouraged(Unless its total bs). Sometimes the
most interesting bits are the crap talked.

This is just my opinion anyway.
