The avatar is over the 9k limit for uploads, but I would've thought I'd get the 'must be under 9k' message as it gives when I try to upload from my machine.

Sorry dude I dunno. I've changed the avatar uploading sizes anyhow to reflect the larger sizes these days.

The limits now 100x120 and 15kb.

In that case then the host has the "user write" access disabled. So I guess you guys need to stick to remote avatar linking.
