Check out the pics of my cordia in workshop getting new chassis put on from an earlier owners crash! :(

$1200 Bill

The first pic is what is being replaced... the others is with it all removed!

I have bigger pics on my website!

The Silicon hose was already on the car when I got it... it did have an intercooler and I just used one from that! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

looks good, i had to get similar repair done to my car when i crashed it...

though with Cordia's, wouldn't it be almost easier and cheaper to just buy another cordia? get one that is straight, then you don't have to go through all this hassel and still end up with a cut and shut??

What a c*nt of a thing to find out after spending all that cash. Hope it all turns out alright. :)

yeh... I spent heaps of cash on her and later found out the front section of the chassis was stuffed! I was pretty pissed! And Cordia Turbo's aren't real easy to get ahold of in country SA! I also love the overall appearance of this particular car... It has neat looking Mags and a reasonably nice body!

Let me know what you think!

i still think your crazy, but i love the car..

where abouts was this 'crack' located?..

just trying to make more meaning of it here..but was it like a crack crack haha, or was rust involved??

i've just recently found out that ive got rust in my guard rails, though i thinks its treatable, and not a real threat to the chassis weakening...

i just want to get a better picture of how yours was before i get it painted and crap then later finding out that the rust/repair wasnt deemed safe..

i mean, its not all that bad..but i get pretty mindful with crap like this, haha

thanks mate
_peter

EDIT**

i just read your webpage..sounds like an all clear for me..but damn mate, how much of a ball busting feeling would it of been to find out your car was like that..and to visually see it 2' lower.. :o

if i as you i would have bought another cordia GSR. dead stock so its cheap as piss. then swapped all the good bits over. cos at the end of the day youve spent over 2k plus the price of the car to basically have a stock cordia with rims.....
i do hope it all works out for ya. also on a note there are shitloads of GSR's for sale in SA. you just have to know where to look

You didnt happen to be an MTA apprentice mechanic did ya? i reckon your the guy i sold my white AA GSL too. a couple of years back.

i must admit though, hard to find a gsr with good paint and no rust, so he may have been justified in keeping the car...

anyway, besides that, it's looking good! make sure you spray the replaced section the same colour as the rest of the engine bay, otherwise it stands out like dogs balls that it's a sectionalised repair, incase you want to sell the car later and not tell people it's a cut&shut. (my skyline has half white half black engine bay...)

CORDI4! Umm.... Jon??? I think thats ya name, Yeh I did buy a white Cordia GSL for $1600 from yah mate! I saw your cars on a website a few months ago... So yeh... waiting for my car to get back from the Crash Shop sucks, they've had her for 3 weeks... That was an AA Cordia was it! Oh... I thought she was an AB, well I'll change that on my website! Nice to chat again pal!

You introduced me to the world of Cordias!!! Can't wait to get my piece on the road! Well... When I do she'll be like new... So thats a good thing!

So... you still with ya girl?

The chassis crack was right next to the engine mount beside the air cleaner, and wasn't anything to do with rust, the wheel guard was all cracked up aswell, so it made sense to replace the whole section, rather than having unattractive plates welded everywhere! It was from being in a hard smack on the drivers side front corner, and the chassis may have been straightened as best they could, and just fitted the panels around her, disguising its internal damage!

Some people are criminal! Probably a backyard job!
