far out in Melbourne hone was only 10 bucks a cylinder bore was 40 and i left out R&R engine in my mind. i'm thinking about the trade price on those items not retail so theres extra but still alot of cash to put on a engine just to freshen it up. |

I would be looking at the block........the deck height can't be right..........but if it's only one cylinder it MAY have stretched a rod........only takes a few thou for the piston to be over. |

Thats why i think it will be better to replace both pistons and rods i guess... |

Post subject: | Re: My NEW Cordia Turbo Project |
Just get the rods checked and replace them only if necessary. Forged pistons are pretty cheap nowadays. |

I reckon most machine shops wouldn't even set the block up in their machine for $10 a cylinder. Maybe someone with a drill and a flex hone would do it for that price. You're right that it is a fair bit of money but we are lucky that 4g62/63 are a simple engine, and easy to get in or out, otherwise it could cost a whole lot more. Typically diesel engines cost around $10000 to rebuild. If you can do all the labour yourself, you could freshen up a 4g62/63 for under $500. |
