Well after selling my last project to Bitza I jumped at the chance of buying Carrot's old AA VR4 Cordia from Nocord. With help from my brother we got the new project back to its new home.

Heres how it looked a few years ago...
Image

After giving it a quick look over we decided the cooler and piping had to go.....so with help from Bitza we started taking off the battery tray or should I say holder....
Image

Image

where it was welded to the body next to the radiator...
Image

The old TD04 has given up the ghost and dumped oil into the cooler and around the engine bay...
Image

Next the bumper came off to reveal the welds for the intercooler brackets..
Image

and the rust that needs attention..
Image

Its a work in progress as I still need to source some parts to get it off the defect, sort some of the electrics out, fit new pipe work and source a TD05.

After a few weeks of doing nothing finally tackled the front suspension with a lot of help from Andrew. Both wheel arches have a few cracks that will need to be fixed if it ever gets to go through Regency. The shocks are pretty stuffed after taking a pounding on the lowered springs....

and the ride height after fitting the standard Kings...well not quite that bad but it did make a big difference to ride height at the front :D

Big thank you to Andrew for all his help and knowledge ;)

After finding a few nasty surprises on my original purchase I decided to buy another rust free shell and transfer everything across. The process begins this weekend.... :D

Sure does............I looked the shell over and I can confirm there is NO rust at all, even under the boot rubber and the doors are solid. :P

With help from Andrew(Bitza) I spent the day stripping most of the interior out of Carrots/nocords old AA VR4. With the interior stripped out it revealed quite a few rust spots and repair panels from previous repairs......I took a pic of the rust that had eaten the rear vent area.....the AA sadly will never be on the road again as it has far too many issues.....but it will live on as a donor for my other AB Cordia :D

Image

Next up is the removal of the dash and onto the mechanicals...with help from Andrew of course ;)

After the engine was out we noticed the crack in the firewall had started to develop rust and it was even larger than we first thought

The body was in pretty bad shape with previous accident damage to most of the rear. Whoever did the repairs welded new metal panels into the car but never primed the welds and over the years the welds have become rusty and most of the panels were useless...we did think about cutting out the rear floor but didn't get around to it.
