I must be a walking wallet........Grant and myself looked at a red GSR at U-Pull-it wreckers Gillman on Saturday.......had some good bits......I thought "I'll come back tomorrow".........well........I got the rear bar (Damaged) $60 and both AC Door trims for $30 Each!!!!! That was an expensive morning........so just to try it out I bought a grey GSL trim from Elizabeth.......price.......$10........the Manager will be hearing from me!!!!!!! |

Just went through this entire thread, amazing work! Very inspirational, especially because i want to get cracking on mine soon. I probably wont go to this detail though lol The last time i owned a cordia i was 18/19, now 30, i just recently have this massive desire to get back in one. Thanks for this thread! It's just a shame this forum is a bit of a ghost town! |

Question, can you give me any tips for removing the window trims? Attempted and broke one  the plastic seems very old and brittle though

With the molding across the windscreen try and slide the molding off.......if you break clips they are available from "windscreen" repairers..........the side moldings are difficult........gently use a long shafted screw driver to pry them up......if you break the clips you can use urethane to relocate........the bottom moldings the "square" clips usually break....other models have these are they are not available aftermarket.......just need to look at the wreckers. |

Just browsed through all 30 pages again, can't get enough of the restoration Andrew. What method did you use to remove the old paint/rubber coating from the exterior window/hatch trims? And which paint did you settle with to use on them? I made a start on them with a razor blade a while ago but wasn't all that effective removing the coating, maybe a light sand will work better. I was thinking of using plasti-dip again as it's worked well for me in the past, but I'm really loving the smooth black finish on the hatch trims of yours in the last few pics! |

Where have you been Mike? My window trims are done this way: 1. Rub them back with 600 grit (Don't remove the rubber coating) 2. Prep with flexi prime then Slowly layer high build spray putty 3. Once rubbed flat with a block add colour coat. I have also done this with the door belt molds........but I have used stone guard over the putty.......sand it back and add colour. |

G'day Andrew been a while! Basically preoccupied getting carried away with the soarer the past 8 months on & off, the cordia hasn't been driven too often due to poor tyres & brakes. With the soarer off the road for the moment I'm finally making a move on the cordia again. How's your AC?? I'll give your method a go this week, thanks for the tips!! I'll post some pics of the outcome. |

After nearly 12 months the AC bonnet developed a rust bubble (didn't help that I bogged it over in the first place) Well.........I have now cut the corner of the bonnet out and replaced with some "fresh" metal.........here is how it turned out, I didn't paint the whole bonnet, just blew the colour in on the passenger side and re-cleared the whole panel.   Just need to finish polishing before putting it back on. |
