Put the AC around the corner:

Amazing what some armor-all does to engine parts:

Just spray liberally and allow to dry (or shine). :)

Update:
Engine has only done 200kms..........now the main front crankshaft seal is badly leaking!!!!

Can't believe it, I replaced all the oil lip seals in the timing case..........looks like it will be off the road for a while as I need to tear down the whole front of the engine...GGGRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Post subject:  Re: My project AC GSR

not good , what type of seal did you use?

Author:  Bitza [ 09 Apr 2013, 22:23 ]
Post subject:  Re: My project AC GSR

All the seals in the engine were Kelray.........never had a problem with them before!

Post subject:  Re: My project AC GSR

usually we have probs with Dayco ones , in the Mitsubishi value selection it ( its a dayco kit rebadged ), they even put the genuine cranks seal into that kit too, as they always leak

^^ yep. There are so many shit seals in timing kits. Andrew, from the parts supplier as for Durapro, it's NOK seals in different packaging. NOK are genuine items ;) by the way, I saw this car in person the other week and it is amazing. Huge attention to detail! Well done mate.

Really nice job on the restoration,I have only started to go on this forum again of late.I may have been able to assist with some photos of the original parts of the car. I have a basically original AB with a few mods I done after I purchased it brand new in 1985.I still have all the original parts that I have replaced with modified units (wheels, springs etc etc) including the original V belts etc. My car hasnt been wet in over 16 years and is in virtually in the same condition as to when I drove it out the showroom. If you need any photos of anything to assist just let me know and I will forward them on ,although mine is a AB not a AC. Its also fitted with the optional factory power steer, oil cooler and air conditioning.Let me know if I can help. Regards Darren

OK............have started cleaning up parts.........here is Grants "turbo" badge for the front grille......even though it was a chrome one off the boot it has turned out well:

Image

Went to u-pull-it Gillman today to look at a white GSL, had an uncracked brown dash.....can't pass that up, but at $76 I thought was a bit rich........recoloured it in charcoal to suit GSR:

The centre bit of the console was there............not sure who I will go with this, but I have most of the parts. :)

Fixed the brown GSL console handbrake centre....even though some clips are missing, but sits in the console fine:

Just for those who don't believe it's the same broken brown one:

Just need to remove the rubber insert and paint charcoal.............yet another cordia part saved from the bin! :)

Awesome work man. It's looking good

There's a gsr at Lonsdale at the moment
Well least think was has the gsr speedo.
Had been resprayed black at some stage.

Unfortunately the engine and gearbox gone
The gear shifter still in car but rubber is stuffed

And looks like someone has smashed most
Of windows and one tail light. And lot off panels dented.
It had kingsprings grabbed them last weekend. Think
For memory one tail light in tact in the boot.

Dunno if much can be salvaged from it
Think it's been there for few months already :(
