Hey mate, did you end up getting your fluidampr balanced?
I cannot get over how well these things are made, top work from Horschel Motorsports, that’s for sure!

My choice of 268 was to keep it safe, I cannot be bothered with full EPA again! If she ever comes off the road, 280’s or larger will go in    .

There was no need to get the dampr balanced as it runs it's own internal "gel" to remove vibrations.

Hadn’t had time to do my own research on that yet, so thanks mate.

When I had my rotating assembly balanced, the machinist had to make adjustments to my standard crank pulley. Would it be safe for me to assume that this was a neutral balance and that it was independent of the rotating assembly, even though the procedure was performed on the crank?

I had the same procedure done on the 2.3.............extra holes were drilled into the stock balancer.........didn't like it, that's why I went for the Fluidampr as it can "automatically" balance itself..........not too mention I've had the stock one loose the vulconised rubber section.

Interesting stuff,

I just had a thought, the balance performed by the machinist is a mass balance correct? Obviously this helps with harmonic balance but is this not different to the actual harmonic absorption characteristics of the crank dampers? Characteristics which cannot be altered by us, e.g. vulcanised rubber or viscous gel.

So then maybe the fluid damper would still require a mass balance. Unless of course my standard pulley was neutral balanced, in which case it will match the fluidampr and all will work well.

Koray,
A mass balance also includes the flywheel, clutch and harmonic to reduce vibration, the damper will remove smaller torsional vibration.

I've just had another look at the Fluidampr.........you will be hard pressed to balance the unit without the gel leaking out, there is no place to remove material.

Exactly my thoughts Andrew, I couldn’t think of a single spot to remove material, even if I wanted. The walls don’t seem thick enough to be drilled (at least not to the depth of my standard unit) even thought the unit is very heavy (the core must be dense)
Thanks for the info mate ;)

It’s not very often parts are made to this standard, it really is a nice piece! Can’t wait for the install at the end of the year!!!!

Lol,

Updates will start in a week’s time, busy with home renovations at the moment.

Also, I was stuffed around with some parts, all sorted now.

This is what my engine mounts looked like bofore I got to them.

I began by drilling holes throught the mounts, below is an example. I then filled them up.

Stated on the audio work for the cordia a little while back, decided to rip all the old heavy shit out and go with a much cleaner install.

Here we have my ipad mini which is to be mounted in my dash.
Image
I began by glassing a mould
Image
Added some rare earth magnets to hold the ipad
Image
Glassed over the whole assembly again to hold the magnets in position.
Image
Magnets in position
Image
Cut the mould to create pivot point in order to easily release the ipad from the magnets.

I now need a bluetooth device with codec support for good quality audio and high voltage out to my amp.

I decided to scrap the old plain carbon steel exhaust I had and make a new one from stainless steel. The new system will be 3" just like the last and utilise V-bands (ordered from Titan Motorsports).
Image

As we all know, no exhaust system would be complete without a turbo, so...... I finally decided on the 25g over the 60-1 and placed an order though Kando Dynamics late last week. Less than 5 business days later and the turbo arrives at my door. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks champ,

I am already experiencing clearance issues with the turbo, where the compressor housing wants to mate with the water pipe and exhaust manifold, sad face!

The simplest answer to this points the compressor outlet vertical down and includes modifications to the wastegate actuator. I wonder if there is adequate room to pass the cooler hot pipe to the passenger side from underneath?

Other options include A2W or return flow cooler with both feed and return on the same end tank (with a divider in between).

I've seen this done plenty of times, there is room to run the pipe on the chassis rail just under the radiator.......pretty sure Danny (yellow VR4) and Plysha (white Vr4) have done this mod.
